Crab Racing

Crab Racing: About

About

Read information about Crab Racing, including the rules and bug policy.

Programming

Crab Racing is programmed in PHP, using the ConTEXT text editor. Offline testing is conducted using WAMP5, an Apache 1.3 / PHP 5 / MySQL 4 package for Microsoft Windows.

And now you know.

Display

Crab Racing is playable using any web browser, including text-based browsers. However, to experience it in all its graphical glory, Crab Racing should be displayed on a monitor with a resolution of at least 1024x768 (pixels), using a modern, standards-compliant browser. Specifically, the browser should fully support XHTML 1.0 Strict, and support most of the CSS 2.0 specification. Browsers that fit this category include Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Konqueror, all of which display Crab Racing properly. Crab Racing should also work (but has not been tested) on other browsers based on Gecko, Presto, or KHTML (probably WebCore too, therefore Safari). Note that Internet Explorer does not fit into this category, and it does not properly display Crab Racing.

I'm not going to make any promises about strict compliancy to W3C standards, but Crab Racing should be pretty much alright with the XHTML Strict doctype it uses. I may get around to making it officialy compliant some day (once again, no promises).

Rules

There's only one real rule: don't be malicious. It's a game, so have fun and respect the other players. Penalities will be applied based on the severity of the situation.

Bugs

This game is almost guaranteed to have a number of bugs in it. If you find a bug, please contact me immediately (email me at maestro@gmail.com, or send me [maestro] an in-game message) with details of the bug and anything you have gained or lost from it. Do not tell anyone else about the bug, and do not exploit it. Every major activity in Crab Racing is logged, so I can easily tell exactly what happened and then rectify the situation.

Once again, the maliciousness rule applies: if you made an honest mistake or were just curiously testing it, you won't be penalised (but anything you gained from the bug will be removed).

Contact

Send an in-game message to maestro or email maestro@gmail.com. If you do not get a response within one week, try again.
